Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a lifelong neurologically based developmental disability affecting 1 in 150 new births, according to recent Centers for Disease Control statistics. ASD knows no socioeconomic, racial or ethnic boundaries, but affects more males than females (4:1). Challenges faced by individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder may include: forming relationships, communicating, adapting to new situations, gaining acceptance in the community.
