MORE SPRING 2010 WORKSHOPS

The Family Autism Center was created in 1996 by SNCARC, working with a group of parents and concerned citizens. We have a Steering Committee made up of family members of children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Our mission is to provide ADVOCACY, supports and services to people with ASD and to their families. Our affiliation with SNCARC and its Family Support programs provides many benefits - from their strength and broad experience in the field of developmental disabilities to the economic advantages of shared services. Learn more about the Family Autism Center's guiding principles.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a lifelong neurologically based developmental disability affecting 1 in 150 new births, according to recent Centers for Disease Control statistics. ASD knows no socioeconomic, racial or ethnic boundaries, but affects more males than females (4:1). Challenges faced by individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder may include: forming relationships, communicating, adapting to new situations, gaining acceptance in the community.
