Social and Recreational
Activities

 

The Family Autism Center offers social and recreational activities for children and young adults affected by ASD. To sign up for one or more of these activities or to volunteer, contact Nancy Borr, Program Assistant at 781-762-4001 or NBORR@SNCARC.ORG.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

MUSIC AND MOVEMENT - Saturday program for children ages 3-11. Music Therapist Magda Kozdrowicz leads this relaxing and fun program for children with ASD and developmental disabilities. Groups meet for 45-60 minutes, and a parent or caregiver must participate with each child. Contact Magda at 508-850-0047 to find out when the next group begins.

BASKETBALL - Ten-week program for children ages 10-16 with special needs, September through November and January through March on Monday evenings in Norwood. Parents are encouraged to stay, cheer and/or help coach. Call Nancy at 781-762-4001 for more information.

BOWLING - Young adult bowling club (ages 15-22). Twelve-week program in the fall and in the spring on Mondays, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Cost for a twelve-week session is $150.

EXPLORERS - A fun group for teenagers who meet for a supervised field trip in the community once a month.

PROJECT PROGRESS GYM PROGRAM - AT NEW ENGLAND SPORTS ACADEMY (Westwood) - Features gymnastics, tumbling, obstacle course and ball sports. Age-appropriate physical activities aimed at developing increased self-awareness, confidence and sensory motor skills. Small groups, facilitated by professionally trained staff. Each child must have a parent or aide to participate with him/her.
