Designed to meet the needs of those who wish to do something different than work at a job or vocational training center, the Alternative Day Program serves participants who express the interest to engage in creative pursuits such as art and music, visits to museums and volunteering delivering Meals on Wheels. Some have retired from work and others want the variety and smaller staff to client ratio that the program provides. Still others attend because they require nursing services, and these are not available in vocational settings or at jobs.

The Alternative Day Program is housed at SNCARC’s facility at 789 Clapboardtree Street within the larger Day Habilitation Program. There are approximately 30 participants in the program and they are very involved in all decisions about what they will do as a group and as individuals.

The Alternative Day Program offers nursing services, occupational and physical therapies and speech therapy as needs are identified for the participants. The hours are the same as for the Day Habilitation as a whole, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  For a tour or to make a referral, please contact Lisa Knox, Program Director at 781-762-4001 ext. 345.
