South Norfolk County Arc (SNCARC) offers
up to five scholarships each year to college students (who will be juniors, seniors or graduate students) who are studying Special Education or a closely related field
and who will be juniors, seniors or graduate students in the upcoming academic year. The deadline for
applications is April 18, and scholarships are awarded in May. SNCARC has been awarding scholarships for more than 25 years.
This year, we are seeking information about past scholarship winners. If you received a scholarship from SNCARC, please email us and let us know where you are and what you are doing now. We want to feature past
scholarship winners in an upcoming newsletter. We're wondering if you are still working in the field of developmental disabilities - and even if you are not working in the field at present, how your college degree in that area has helped you.
SNCARC Scholarships are awarded in memory of Mrs. Mary Walsh and
Mrs. Carol Keegan, and in honor of Mrs. Ruth Very. This year, we are pleased to add a new scholarship to be awarded for the first time in May 2009, the Natalie Thomas Woodward Schmatzler Walsh Scholarship, which was funded in her memory by her family and friends.
The 2009 scholarship application deadline was May 10. No more applications are being accepted this year. Look for the 2010 application here in January 2010.
